Experimental analysis and design strength models adopted by international guides for FRP-confined concrete columns subjected to axial compression

Carbon fiber jacketing is an efficient technique for increasing the strength and strain capacity of concrete circular square section columns subjected to axial load, although confinement efficiency decreases rectangular cross-section members. The research project BIA 2016-80310-P includes experimental program on intermediate-size plain specimens strengthened with carbon jackets, mostly cross-sections. results, alongside others similar characteristics from two databases published, are compared predictions four international guides. incidence key parameters in results analyzed, such as aspect ratio section, effective FRP jacket attained at failure or rounded corner radius. As a result, factors proposed, one another specimens. contained certain guides, based simple linear design-model, improved by using proposed factor sections.
